Vampires, Dragons, and Gargoyles – oh my!
Goodreads Description:
Everything feels off—especially me. I’ve returned to Katmere Academy, but I’m haunted by fragments of days I have no recollection of living and struggling to understand who, or what, I really am.
Just when I start to feel safe again, Hudson is back with a vengeance. He insists there are secrets I don’t know about, threatening to drive a wedge between Jaxon and me forever. But far worse enemies are at our doorstep.
The Circle is caught in a power play and the Vampire Court is trying to drag me out of my world and into theirs. The only thing Hudson and Jaxon agree on is that leaving Katmere would mean my certain death.
And not only am I fighting for my life, but now everyone else’s is at stake—unless we can defeat an unspeakable evil. All I know is that saving the people I love is going to require sacrifice.
Maybe more than I’m able to give.
I don’t know if my heart will ever recover from the ending of this book.
Is it long? Oh my goodness, YES.
Full transparency: I did listen to part of it as an audiobook which I think absolutely helped me conquer this beast.
The 𝑪𝒓𝒂𝒗𝒆 series gives all of the ooey-gooey YA vampire vibes. While I absolutely enjoyed the continuing story of our Katmere Academy crew, I found myself so torn! I was having bookish PTSD of choosing either Team Edward or Team Jacob in 𝑻𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕.
“Crush?” Should have been “CrushED” because my heart has just been crushed at how this ended! How am I supposed to choose between these two #IYKYK (and yes, while I realize it’s not 𝙢𝙮 choice but Grace’s, I am fully invested in these characters).
With all of that being said, there is a beautiful underlying story of sometimes we think we know where our life is headed and something (or someone) comes along and changes the game. I know I’ve been there many times in my life. There are instances where the change is bad – but many where it’s for the good. It all comes down to the fact that change is inevitable. It’s how you handle it that your true self shines through.
This book has vampires, gargoyles, werwolves, and dragons. There’s “The Circle” and “Vampire Court.” There’s Ludares which is Hunger Games mixed with Breaking Dawn fight scene and Harry Potter’s Quaffle. Love triangles and frenemies to potential lovers. This book has everything including the kitchen sink.
If you were a Twi-hard like me, and just need something to take you back to those days – PICK UP THESE BOOKS!
Also, I MIGHT have already pre-ordered the third of the series 𝑪𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒕 – which is expected to land in March! ….might
Sometimes life hands you more than a new hand of cards to play – it hands you a whole new deck, maybe even a whole game.
